Hi,
my name is Stefan Hjörnhede and I have been practising and competing OCR (Obstacle Course Race) since I fell for this amazing sport four years ago. Today I love it even more and in October 2018 I'm going to London to compete in the World Championships. Things have moved on pretty fast.
The people involved in OCR are crazy, friendly and happy. We help each other out and we love to inspire others to give it a try. We are convinced that everybody can do it if they really want to, and we are always ready to give a helping hand. We laugh, cry and struggle together.
This sport is growing fast and it is a tremendous way of training – you have to be very all round. You are really using all parts of your body, which is a big challenge. Running is essential and if you have got arms and a torso persevering and strong, that is a big advantage.
This year (2018) the sport has brought me to Denmark and, as I mentioned, in October I'm traveling to London to compete in the OCR World Championships. In August 2018 I participated in a competion where you have to run as far as you can, including get through many different obstacles, in 24 hours. By completing more laps than anybody else, I qualified to the World Championships in Enduro in Sydney, Australia June 8-9 2019. I will be running a track with obstacles for 24 hours, as one of very few Swedes, and I will be trying very hard to make the Swedish people proud.
I am very determined and so looking forward to this competition. The deal is, though, that I have to cover all the costs myself. That includes the trip from Sweden to Australia and back, the stay, the food and so on– quite a big amount of money. The moment I found out that I was qualified, I started thinking about ways to finance it all.
I'm now hoping for support. If you would be able to help me out, I would be so very grateful and happy.
I am a person with a lot of energy – I have built my own enterprise, called HUA, Hjörnhede Assault Course, close to my home (outside Alingsås in the western part of Sweden). There I'm organizing events and competions, inviting people of all ages to try OCR.
