Back in May 2015, a local Montessori school unexpectedly closed its doors leaving children and teachers displaced and unemployed.
This turn of events spurred a group of families into action to ensure continuity in their children’s Montessori education and training, by joining forces with exceptional educators and staff.
The outcome of this dedicated group effort led to the formation of Our Community Montessori Cooperative, a pre-K and homeschooling tutoring co-op, in August 2015.
Our mission is to make Montessori education affordable for the local community and to share the philosophy of Maria Montessori on educating the whole child.
We are now entering our third year, offering our Montessori Program for the Fall 2017/Spring 2018 academic year.
This process and our efforts have been by no means easy. We still need a number of continued resources to bring our complete vision to fruition, as our ultimate goal is to become a full-fledged Prince George’s County, Maryland recognized Montessori School:
• Salaries for Montessori teachers/tutors
• Rent for our tutorial space
• Learning materials
• Furniture
• Cooperative Van
• Playground Equipment
We need YOUR help, our community and village, to support our efforts by making a donation to Our Community Montessori Cooperative. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. We also ask that you contact us directly to provide any donation of services or goods, such as web design or a van.
We are excited to provide regular updates on our progress in building this Cooperative into a school so that you will be able to see just how much good your donation is doing for our children, their instructors, our community, and the future.
