Hello
My name is Carla and I have a son named Jayden. His dad is a Police Officer in the city of Everett MA and is a supposed defender for the people of the community. Earlier this year he beat my son with a leather belt over 14 times, until he was battered and brusied so badly he required medical attention. The state picked up the criminal case and has been pursuing criminal charges against him. However because of my son's father's financial ability, he has sought custody even as these criminal charges have been brought against an Officer of the community.
I desperatley need $5,000.00 to retain a Custody lawyer.
I have tried everything in my power to get a "pro bono" attorney. It's impossible for probate court. No one will even touch the case without $5,000.00. Things have been so traumatic for Jayden and to think they are going to take him from his mother and back to the ABUSER is incomprihendable. This is our second custody trial and because of my lack of financial access I believe I lost the first time because I could not afford a lawyer.
Here is a little backround of our situation. When Jayden was born his father and I were no longer together. From the time of 2-6 he had no contact with Jayden. He came around when Jayden was 6 and I allowed them to reconnect even though we lived thousands of miles apart at this time! Fast forward to 2011. Mr. Bellard (Jayden's dad) had became a police officer and now his child support order was going to go up. So his dad filed for custody.
Jayden and I have such a strong bond! He is such a happy and funny kid! He is 11 and very smart. We have been together since day one. His dad has never been there and has only taken a stake in raising Jayden, once he realized the financial gain if he obtained custody. I and my family have always taken the best care of Jayden. I raised him in a loving open environment and continue that to this day.
I am so disappointed in the legal system. How does a man get custody of a child that he has ABUSED?
I have sold his bonds from when he was a child and any jewelry I had to get $2000 to give to a lawyer. But that was for a few appearances and help with paper work And advise. Not for a trial.
Although I do have Jayden back at the moment (because DCF placed him back with me) I am in fear of losing my son again. I have no money for a lawyer and this is one of those things you can't put your child's future in the hands of a stranger and hope they do the right thing. I have already gone down that road and lost.
Thank you for your compassion and help. All donations will go 100% to a lawyer to keep Jayden safe. Children need to feel safe at home. Every dollar counts and is a blessing for us!
Thank you
