"Oceanside" Student Short Film
Donation protected
Synopsis: A young detective returns to his stoic hometown to investigate a murder associated with his own youth.
Hi all! My name is Richard Imburgio & I'm a student filmmaker at CUNY Brooklyn College. I've been making short films since I was about 9 years old and now that I'm at the end of my college chapter, I have the opportunity to take on an exciting project that I've been wanting to tell for a long time.
This April, I am going to be shooting my student thesis "Oceanside" which focuses on a young man named Jesse who ventures into his troubled past because of a crime in the seedy, titular Oceanside. The film contains influences from many psychological horror stories, thrillers, folk horror, and crime/noir stories. It will be a conscious choice to not only make an entertaining horror film but to explore the relevant psychological theme of trauma (and how we deal with it).
This GoFundMe will supplement the production & cover expenses like:
- Equipment Rentals
- Location Fees
- Production Design
- Catering
- Lodging
- Travel
I'm collaborating with wonderful crew members (mostly Brooklyn College students and graduates) as we're scheduling, casting, securing locations, etc. Below you'll find the website of "Messenger Studios", my production website to see other short films of mine & a pitchdeck full of script excerpts, reference images, and extra info.
All backers will be thanked by name in the credits of the short film, which will eventually be posted here along with updates of the shoot. Any support is greatly appreciated!
