A Mysterious Medical Problem Needing Your Help
Our grandson, Ocean Martin, is 16 years old and dealing with a mysterious and painful condition in his lower right jaw. It all began 4 and a half years ago after a baby molar was pulled. His jaw swelled and became extremely tender and the dentist thought it was an infection so prescribed antibiotics. After three rounds of three different antibiotics he was in an ambulance on his way to Seattle Children's Hospital. His jaw was terribly swollen and he was in excruciating pain.
We do not have a definitive diagnosis, although Chronic Re-currant Multi Focal Osteyeomylistis was mentioned. So far he does not fit all the symptoms. Our goal with GoFundMe is to get a definitive diagnoses and appropriate treatment.
In March an oral surgeon did a bone biopsy fully expecting to find infection or a cancerous tumor. He was shocked to find no infection or tumor, however, what was discovered is that the bone marrow is gone in the problem area of Ocean's jaw.
This was just before his bone biopsy in March.
Over the years, Hannah, his mom has taken him to many doctors and dentists hoping to find the answer. That quest will need to continue and she will need help with this.
Perhaps a trip to one of the Mayo Clinics or dental specialists we have heard of back east will be in their future. Hannah is a very hard working mother devoted to her two wonderful children. Ocean has always been a sweetheart and he has shown great maturity through these very trying years. It hurts to see him suffer so much.
Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. All prayers will be greatly appreciated too.
This was on a good day, his sister, Maya's graduation from high school. His jaw was good this day which we were very thankful for.
Our goal is $25,000
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Wayne and Sheri Martin
