Hey everyone, my name is Jessica Fourman. My mom is the heart and soul of our family. She has been battling cancer courageously for 15 years. With a thumbs up at every chemo and a smile no one could shy away from, Mom has touched the lives of nurses, doctors and anyone else she has ever met. She is her grandbabies sunshine and the hero of us all. No one can meet Vonda and forget her. In February, while my Dad was at a funeral for his aunt, I had to call an ambulance for Mom. We found out the cancer had spread to her brain and she needed surgery. Very long story short, after 7 weeks in the hospital, Mom is now under hospice care and we are trying to keep her comfortable at home. We almost lost her, but after being unresponsive for days, Mom woke up and said “I want to fight!” If fight is what she wants to do, then we will help her do it! My dad and I are her primary caregivers. We have not worked in 7 weeks because every moment was a walk on a tightrope. We will be caring for her 24/7. Right now, Mom cannot move, cannot leave her bed to go the bathroom, cannot feed herself, and yet refuses to give up. She needs two people with her constantly. We cannot afford her past medical bills - let alone her current ones, cannot afford to hire help, cannot afford our house bills and cannot afford to take so much time off of work. Dad is a self-employed handyman and I am a teacher. If we do not work, we do not get paid. We do not know how we are going to make this work, but we are to the point of asking for, and desperately needing, help. Our family is rich in love and emotional support from wonderful friends and family, but we are not rich in finances. Any help that anyone can give will be more than I could ask for. Beyond monetary help, we could always use prayers, thoughts, good wishes, and any other help anyone can give. Thank you so much!
