Greetings, Earthling! I'm Celia C. Peters, an Oakland futurist, filmmaker, visual artist and curator. I'm creating a new voice in American sci-fi film. My team and I are raising funds to create a short sci-fi afrofuturist thriller that brings fresh energy to the table. It's called OBJECT PERMANENCE.

OBJECT PERMANENCE is a Black Mirror vibe with Black lead characters (and zero racial trauma). We’re not asking for permission --- we're cooking up a unique flavor of afrofuturism whose time has come.

Now the clock is ticking to raise production funds for OP and we need your help! This film will premiere at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on September 12, 2026, in connection with the Women of Afrofuturism exhibit in Terminal 1, which features my art.

This round of funds will go to crucial production costs: paying our very talented cast and funding our art department (production designer, set decorator, props, using original art from independent artists in the set and an art installer).

NEXT STOPS FOR THE PROJECT: Screening at NEXUS, presented by the Museum of the African Diaspora-SF in October 2026. And then the film will head to film festivals. The big goal is to develop a feature film or episodic series version of Object Permanence. First things first, we have to make this film

If you give at any level, you’ll be supporting a new voice in American science fiction. In an era when the U.S. government is erasing Black history, telling stories about Black and POC people in the future is a most urgent and very necessary revolutionary act.

Science fiction has been *my jam* ever since I was a girl and this is the sci-fi I’ve been wanting to see: smart, stylish and centering characters who look like me. With OP, I was inspired by the 3 interstellar objects that’ve passed by Earth lately — and of course, the U.S. government’s recent acknowledgement of unexplained phenomena on Earth! My story plays with the latest science exploring what (who?) is out there in our universe.

We're creating something different and very special. My whole team, in front of and behind the camera, is extremely talented and tuned in. We're on the same wavelength and that will TOTALLY translate to the screen.
