Hi everyone,

This is incredibly hard for me to write, but I’m asking for help for my sweet, 6-year-old orange boy, Obie, who recently had a sudden and life-threatening medical emergency.

Last night, Obie developed a urinary blockage; a condition that can quickly become fatal in male cats if not treated immediately. I rushed him to the emergency vet where they confirmed that without immediate treatment, he would have died. They were able to relieve the blockage, manage his pain, and stabilize him, and thankfully, he is now on the road to recovery. He will need to be on a strict prescription diet for the rest of his life, and even on this diet, the risk of another blockage remains.

Watching Obie in pain was one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I felt completely helpless knowing that while I'm already struggling to keep up with my bills and living paycheck to paycheck, getting immediate treatment was the only way to save his life. Letting him die was not an option for me, but the cost of emergency care, hospitalization, medications, and follow-up treatment has left me overwhelmed and scared about how I’m going to manage financially.

Anyone who knows Obie knows how special he is. He’s the most affectionate cat you'll ever meet, quirky, and always nearby — whether he’s cuddling with me like his life depends on it or greeting me like he hasn’t seen me in years. He entertains everyone with his orange energy and drives his big sister Pepper crazy, though he loves her to the moon and back. The thought of losing him is unbearable — but now I’m facing the reality of the bills that come with ensuring he lives a healthy, pain-free life.
