Help send local kids to Camp Oakwood
Donation protected
While making your vacation plans this summer, please consider giving a donation of $50 to Oakwood Park Rec Center. Oakwood Rec Center is located in Venice, practically in many of our back yards. Contribute to the health and happiness of our community by giving a child an opportunity for growth and enrichment that he or she would not otherwise have. With your help, last year the Park Advisory Board (PAB) raised $5000. Let's see if this year we can raise $6000!

Experts say camp is important for all kids to help them develop leadership skills, exploration, peer relations, and positive self-identity. Our goal is to secure 40 one-week camperships. A campership is a scholarship for campers who cannot afford the full payment of camp. A campership allows some kids to attend by covering a portion of their fees for camp, and will provide full coverage for some kids in great need. A campership varies depending on the program. $100 covers a camper to attend Monday through Thursday while $150 covers a campers cost to attend camp Monday through Thursday as well as the Friday fieldtrip.

Camp Oakwood is a very diverse camp. Campers range from ages 4-17. A typical day at camp involves activities relating to cooking, sports, arts and crafts, theatre, dance and indoor and outdoor activities. We have water play Wednesday, and culminate to a grand party every Thursday. The staff at Oakwood are the best! The majority of the staff are returning counselors who come back every year because they love their jobs. They are trained in CPR and First AID, as well as receive a full week of staff and lunch training every year before camp resumes. Their enthusiasm for the program and the children make camp Oakwood what it is!

There is no camp like Camp Oakwood! Whether it's the theme weeks, special event days, field trips, or the great food, our campers keep begging for more. With your help, lifetime memories will be made! Your donation will go directly to helping a child attend camp this summer.

Funds raised in excess of $6000 will go toward special events at Oakwood Park like summer movie nights.
