My friend, Tyler Latta, after having severe struggles with PTSD from his time in Afghanistan, picked up this sweet little dog named Oakley from a local shelter to help him push through those struggles. Oakley was one of several dogs in the shelter. Most were tagged and spoken for. Oakley had a different tag on him. His tag meant that he was ill. Tyler went to him and picked him up. They bonded immediately and Tyler said he wanted him. The shelter worker stated that the nature of Oakley's heart condition meant that he likely wouldn't live to see a year old without receiving a very invasive and expensive heart surgery. Tyler said he didn't care and that he wanted to give this dog the best life he could with what little time he had left. And that's what he and his amazing wife Karen did. Unfortunately and unexpectedly, on February 16th, Tyler lost his battle with PTSD. In his memory and for his wife, I want to help get this little guys heart fixed. Knowing how much Tyler loved this dog, I don't want Karen to have to go through another devastating loss in the coming months. So please, help me get this done. This money will go towards the surgery fees. If there is extra money left over, it will be divided evenly and donated to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and The Independence Fund. Thank you all in advance for your generosity.
