We are in the last of stages of preparing for full launch of our programming . We are raising funds to bring great artists, speakers, masters of all arts, media and production to share their talent in Oakland. We have a vision to bless the space and the greater community of Oakland with diverse, quality productions, seminars, art and fashion shows, book clubs, teach-ins and gatherings of great minds.
OHP
At the corner of 13th and Webster, in beat with downtown Oakland you will find Oakland Hot Plate, an eatery/venue/gallery. OHP occupies the southwest corner of the historic Menlo Hotel built in 1911. Impressive 18ft ceilings, recovered embossed tinted glass windows and detailed early 20th century moldings are nostalgic remnants gifted to light over a two-year restoration project spear headed by owner, founder, redeveloper Lina Luna Torio, a musician, entrepenuer and activist who has resided in Oakland over the past 20 years. OHP was built on the profits of Flower to Fruit a vegan prepared meals company owned and operated by Torio since 2011.
OHP is dedicated to offering the health of garden, field, farm, river and sea all handled in good conscious. A wheat free menu of breads, daily pastry and pasta, fresh juice, select teas and coffee, cruelty free protein and seasonal, local, organic or pesticide free ingredients is offered to our community. We pour local and international select beer, wine and soju cocktails for special events.
OHP is a venue committed to innovation. Hosting vinyl dominated dj sets and live music, we encouraging all musicians to showcase original compositions and collaborations. Mestiza y la Ley is our resident power quartet, providing Lunchtime Live concerts and Happy Hour Mixers. Sundays at OHP are home to folkloric music from around the globe featuring local ensembles dedicated to their roots and expansion of awareness.
The bay area is home to some of the greatest graffiti art pioneers of the 90’s. OHP is very happy to showcase the art of Spie One, of the legendary TDK crew. His rendition of Assata Shakur’s “Affirmation” gained town recognition educating the public and recognizing the continuous struggle of a people ready to rise.
We apreciate your interest and support!!!
