From oc115 to Oakland County Times

In 2009 the what is now The Oakland County Times started with one reporter, one city, and a dream to improve the state of community journalism.

That dream has grown into a publication serving 61,000 readers and growing. We’re doing work in multiple cities, winning investigative reporting awards, and helping Oakland County be more informed, inspired and united.

This is the time to put the community efforts behind taking this project to the next level and making the Oakland County Times sustainable and successful. In the absence of subscriptions, Reader Support is the key.

With a solid base of funding we can:

~give increased coverage to more cities

-do more investigative reporting that makes a difference in communities

~have better marketing materials

~and have a dedicated part time event page coordinator to make sure more organizations can be part of our listings.

~continue working on business model ideas for long term sustainability

The key to making local online journalism successful is for the people who use it to recognize the value and help fund it. You can make a one-time contribution or sign up for a monthly gift that will help keep The Oakland County Times sustainable.

If you already support our work, please forward this on to friends and family you think would be willing to chip in. Thanks for your help with this endeavor!
