My name is David Gardner, a math teacher at Life Academy of Health & Biosciences in Oakland, California. We are a small public school in the Oakland Unified School District, and we have some of the most inquisitive young minds I've ever worked with!
One of the best parts of working at Life Academy is the opportunity to get young people outdoors to explore the natural world around them. I am raising funds to rent a passenger van for 2 weeks to take a group of 12 young men & non-binary youth on excursions around the Bay Area in May.
Our itinerary will include:
- A 3-day/2-night backpacking trip to Pt. Reyes
- Discovering clams and shellfish in Bodega Bay
- Hiking Mt. Diablo
- Learning about indigenous communities of coastal California
- Exploring the many environs of Coyote Hills and Rock Canyon
- And much more!
Your contribution will give students an experience they'll never forget as they see the Bay Area beyond Oakland.
Please help give it to them!
Thank you so much for your contribution.
*I would normally host a fundraiser like this on DonorsChoose, but they still won't allow any field trip fundraising!!
