Oak Fire Took Our Family's Homestead

I am the landowner. My name is Jessina Diaz-Hunter. The Ranch has been in my family since 1852. My family now consists of my Husband (Jeromey Diaz-Hunter), 3 boys (ages 2 Jerry, 6 Benji and 14 Isaiah) and myself. Our home, barns and 3 of our rentals burned in the recent Oak Fire in Mariposa County.

My family history about the property consists of two brothers from Germany sailing around the horn of Africa. They landed in San Francisco Bay, bringing with them a sawmill. They settled in Mariposa in 1852, obtaining two original land grants totaling 1600 acres. We now only have 35 of the original acres through marriage and land sales. I am related to the Finches, Ashworths, Wass' Carters, Whites, Wackermans, and many more because our family has been here for so long. I am named after my great-grandmother Jessina Frances White Ashworth.

Our home, barns and 3 of our rentals burned to the ground. We ran a business called Saddle 'em Up Trail Rides. We still have horses that we were able to get out but all of our saddles, tack and ATVs we're burned. We had long-term rentals on our property that we call the tenants family. Two of these families lost everything too.

This is a fundraiser to help rebuild our ranch, business and the rentals for the people renting from us that we call family. Specifically, we are looking for a truck since we lost our old Ford in the fire, buy chainsaws and equipment mentioned above and to clear/rebuild the land, help our rental families while we rebuild houses for them and rebuild one rental that did not have insurance coverage. Our Ranch is on Triangle Road Near Carter and is the estate of Memory Lane. Extra monies received could go towards others that have needs in the community. We know so many people who lost their homes and would like to help them.
