My son Austin Harper was a student at CAL Berkeley (no scholarship) and a walk-on to the football team. He completed 2 summer sessions and 1 full year there. He lived on campus at Clark Kerr with all the football players. As time went on he came to realize this football family wasn't a good fit for him. His love for the game and wanting to play and being told he wasn't good enough to play for them, prompted him to leave the school to get an oppurtunity to play somewhere else. He runs track for DVC junior college and plays footbal for CCC junior college will be transferring from there. He qualified for a Fianacial Aid award that did not cover all of his housing and being his first year in college 17 years old, running with most players that had scolarships, he and the school overlooked his housing bill being due. When he enrolled at CCC and needed his transcript thats when we found out he left a debt of $7,055.00 all for housing/late fees. He is using an unofficial transcript now, but to get full credit for all his classes he'd taken at UCB which he passed all of them. He needs his official transcript and it will not be released without the debt being paid in full. I am a mother doing the best I can to keep him focused on his goals.
