Norah was born on January 19, 2014, with Arthrogryposis affecting only her upper extremities. She had zero movement in her arms/hands until she was five months old. Although she has made remarkable progress in the last eight months, she cannot lift her arms to give a hug, wave good-bye, reach for toys, or feed herself.
Two weeks ago I saw the WREX/Magic Arms on another child and started to inquire about the device. A week later, I discovered an opportunity was available and Magic Arms was looking for a candidate to participate in the relaunching in the Minneapolis/Midwest region. I am truly excited about this opportunity, and immediately connected with Magic Arms to begin the care journey they were offering.
Within 72 hours, I was contacted and traveled to Minneapolis on March 5, 2015, to meet the co-inventor of Magic Arms and the whole Magic Arms group. Norah was casted for the vest and main frame equipment she will need. The first major step in the process was competed!
I also learned that Magic Arms for the World is a new organization and just beginning their fundraising efforts. The cost for one child to receive Magic Arms is approximately $10,000. Very little of this cost is covered by insurance or other financial means.
I am working to raise the money for Norah’s arms, and to pay it forward and assist the foundation to pay for arms for other deserving child suffering from Arthrogryposis or other similar mobility issues.
Donations are being accepted at Norah's gofundme page or at www.magicarms.org .
It is the dream of every parent to have their child reach full potential. Many parents take for granted their child being able to do simple tasks such as feeding themselves, waving good-bye or hugging loved ones. For my child and many others, these tasks will need to be earned and fought for—Magic Arms will help those dreams come true and lead to an opportunity for a full and productive life.
