Dear friends,
I wanted to give you a background story. In February of 2013 I lost my mother, in September of 2013 I found out I had breast cancer right before my 46th birthday. My family was in town for my mother's memorial so I had to tell my kids and family I had breast cancer. Since I am a single mom, it was one of the hardest things I had to do especially to my kids who were 16 and 13 at the time. I had a mastectomy in April 2014, chemo and was in and out of the hospital. I missed a lot of work but am grateful for FMLA. I was able to get back to work in October 2014.
In January 2015 I had bad headaches and was throwing up and I realized I had brain cancer. A PET scan confirmed that I had brain stem cancer. After doing radiation, I'm 40% clean at this time. I'm also on chemo pills and doing hercepton (mini chemo) every three weeks while working full time.
As a single mom working full time, even though my insurance helps with my medical costs, my job barely covers the everyday costs. My cars are getting old and I have a daughter about to go to college. The engine light on her car has gone on again for the second time. I have a long road ahead of me and appreciate your prayers and support.
Love and hugs,
Karen
