I, Sohail Daniels need about $35,000 in 4 to 6 weeks for my son's stem cell transplant, which he desperately needs to prolong his life.
In August 2014, my 21 year old son Rohail Daniels was diagnosed with stage 4 Burkitt's Lymphoma. The doctors said that he had almost no chance for survival. A combination of stage 4 cancer, spinal cord compression, and 3rd degree back wounds greatly minimized his chances of survival. His tumor did significant damage to his spinal cord and left him paralyzed from the waist down. Rohail was also treated at American Hospital in Dubai for a short period and but we could not afford it. Treatment was extremely expensive since we were forced to pay 100% out of pocket due to a lack of medical insurance.
After the first chemotherapy cycles, Rohail went into remission. Unfortunately, in first week of February 2015 we were informed that the cancer had traveled to his brain. The biopsy report on February 11th confirmed that he had a tumor in his brain because of a relapse.
Fortunately, the doctors removed some of the tumor in his temporal lobe while collecting the sample for biopsy. The doctors had restarted chemotherapy and the sixth cycle finished a couple of days ago. The seventh and final cycle started 6 days ago .
However doctors are now telling us that in order to maximize his chances for survival, they need to perform a stem cell transplant after the completion of his chemotherapy cycles.
I cannot bring my son to USA as his visa is still in process and because he cannot fly while being treated.
So far, we've paid all the medical expenses ourselves which amounts to over $100,000, utilyzing all means possible. Now, we're totally out of funds and I cannot bear the expenses any longer since working for NYC Department of Education does not allow me to burden such a huge expense.
Please have it in your heart to help me shoulder this financial burden to save my son's life.
