Don Miller, survived by his beloved spouse Barbara, died March 6 after fighting and recovering from years of life-threatening illnesses: cancer, heart surgery, arterial and vascular diseases. Don was a fighter, bouncing back every time. A Vietnam veteran, Don fought his final series of battles over the last three months with four hospitalizations and increasingly longer recoveries. He finally succumbed to the last bout of cardiopulmonary disease.
Contributions will help with funeral and medical expenses. Don’s out-of-pocket medical expenses skyrocketed over the past many years.
Don was among the most generous anyone could hope to meet: generous in spirit, generous in word and deed. Among his greatest gifts were his big personality; infectious laughter that lit up a room; focus on family; and his gift of gab. There were no introverts in his life, as ‘Big Don’ drew out conversation and the best in everyone. Don never met a stranger.
Fixtures of St. Andrews Presbyterian for some 20 years, Don and Barbara gave generously through pastoral care ministries. Don loved cooking – eating even more :-) They prepared and served meals for all occasions. Despite an inborn aversion to washing dishes, Don stood by his bride’s side at the kitchen sink. Meals included holidays for the homeless, in-home delivery to the ill and meals for funeral receptions.
There are no words to adequately express our gratitude for considering this request. On behalf of Don, his surviving wife Barbara, and his entire family … Thank You.
