Understanding the achievements and downfall of the Byzantine Empire is crucial in order to understand the history of Russia and the Russian Church.
At Holy Trinity Seminary, we offer a two-semester course on the History of Byzantium. The syllabus would be strongly enhanced if the students could experience Byzantine heritage directly, in Istanbul, at the conclusion of the course. This pilgrimage would remain forever in their memory as part of their Jordanville formation.
If you are willing to help us gather the necessary funding for an instructor and two students, the pilgrimage can take place this July.
As an incentive to our fund-raising efforts, one of our alumni has promised that, once we reach a certain level, he will make a substantial donation that should help to meet our goal of $6000.
