Susan is the daughter of Danny and Lois Ward and the little sister of Nita Honeycutt McFatridge and the mother of Justin Mobley.
Susan's cancer journey started in early 2012 when has was having routine testing done for a hystorectomy. She was diagnosised March 15, 2012 with rectal cancer. She had radiation, chemo lasting 6 months and surgery. She was told after those treatments that she was cancer free. 7 months later, she was told that she had a spot on her abdominal wall where her ovary had been before her hystorectomy. Chemo treatments were started again and the ball never stopped rolling. Susuan has cancer in her rectum, colon, abdominal wall area, liver, lymph nodes and most recently her bladder. She exhausted treatment measures in Paris and Dallas and went to Cancer Treatment Centers of American in Chicago in December 2014 and found new hope and treatment. She made 2 trips to Chicago for treatments and the day she was to fly out for her 3rd round the snow storm in the northeast caused her flight to be cancelled. She was in so much abdominal pain at that time that she was taken to Baylor Dallas and was admitted where she spent 2 weeks there and had to have surgery again to place an Illistomy. When she was released to go home she was very weak but was very determined to regain her strength and be able to return to Chicago to continue her cancer treatments. That has been delayed due to the fact that she cant keep anything down. She has continious nausea and vomiting and uncontrolled abdominal pain. She was started on home health care, which her insurance only pays a portion of, for home IV therapy, which her insurance does NOT cover. Again she had to go back to Baylor Dallas and was placed on Hospice care in early March so she could have a financial break with the costs of medications and TPN which is total nutrition thru her chemo port. Her insurance will pay 80% of that. It is very expensive and she needs it daily to gain strength back to continue to fight for her life. Hospice told her that they would not pay for the TPN, so she is back to square 1 and will have to pay those costs herself. This gofundme acct has been started by her friends and family to help aide her so that she may recieve the medical treatment and medications that she can not afford being a single young women of 43 with no income for over 2 years. Please find it in your heart to give whatever you can as often as you can. Susan is currently in PRMC for low sodium level, weakness and uncontrollable pain.
