About 10 days ago today, John and Robin O'Hara also known as my parents, well their house and neighborhood was flooded out due all of the heavy rain that Oklahoma has received this spring. The dam at Keystone which is approximately 10 miles away from my parents house was forced to release high volumes of water causing severe flooding in the area. My parents along with many of their neighbors did not have flood insurance because they are all in a 100 year flood plain. The water in the house got as high as 3 feet and was remained there for around a week. All of the sheet rock, insulation, wood cabinets, bathroom vanities, doors, and flooring have to be pulled out and replaced. A lot of furniture, appliances, and other miscellaneous items have been damaged and had to be thrown away. Some things that are needed besides building materials are a dishwasher, stove/oven, water heater, and a HVAC unit. If you know of any other way that you can help we are very open to suggestions. My parents, myself, and all of the awesome volunteers have been doing as much of the tear out labor in order to save on costs but we still need to buy materials very soon. Anything you can do will be of great help!
