Summary at the bottom.
Hello, friends and family. I know you all are accustomed to hearing from me in a much more positive and humorous fashion; unfortunately that is not the case here. I've never used gofundme before, but I am here now to help someone very near and dear to my heart. This post is for my life-long girlfriend, Terri Mohring Ridenour . As some of you might already know, she has come upon a situation most of us only imagine in our nightmares.
On June 5th, 2019, she was admitted to Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C. with severe lower abdominal pain that brought her to tears. The initial diagnosis was diverticulitis, and she was treated with heavy antibiotics. After 5 days of her condition worsening, the doctors took a second look. After midnight on the 10th, a contrast CT scan showed that her colon had ruptured in 2 places and was in severe sepsis. She was rushed into surgery with a 5% chance to live. Thankfully through the marvelous work of the surgeon and a miracle, she survived with a brand new drain and colostomy in her tummy. The battle was won, but little did we know; the war was far from over. As Terri's condition showed few signs of improvement it became apparent that another surgery was imminent. A new CT scan showed multiple abscesses had formed surrounding her intestines; one as large as a grapefruit. On June 18th, the surgeons went back in. They cleared up all the could and closed her up with high hopes. She was released the 28th, still unable to care for herself to any extent and in unimaginable agony. Her 2 sons, Jarred and Coleman, were there to help in any way that they could. Her eldest, Jarred, sadly had to return home to Colorado sooner than he'd have liked, and Coleman stayed as her primary caretaker. Another procedure was later deemed necessary to remove a blockage inhibiting her from eating or drinking. Over 2 months later the light of day is still barely visible, with another surgery to reconnect her colon looming not far in the distance. Which brings me to why I've written this post.
Teresa is one of the hardest working people I've ever known; let's get that straight. She went back to school at 50 to become a surgical technician. Took a medical office job to put food on the table, and got a second job. Just to put in perspective the kind of woman she is. But these impossibly hard times have forced her to take all this time off, unpaid. She has exhausted her entire savings, borrowed from her 401k, and cut all non essentials. All of that, and she still won't be able to make the payment on her mortgage or keep the lights on. That is, without your help. Even if it's only a dollar, or the 10 cents you found doing laundry, your help means more than you could ever know and is greatly appreciated. For those unable to give; your time reading this, your thoughts, and your prayers are just as well received and we are grateful for them all the same. Feel free to share our link with anyone you see fit.
Summary: My dear life-long friend has fallen upon hard times due to severe medical complications, and has been out of work for 2 months going on 3. We are asking for donations towards keeping her from defaulting on her mortgage, other bills, and keeping food on the table. Feel free to share as well.
