So much consideration went into making the decision to start this fundraiser for, Duncan Henderson, aka, “D”, "Coach”, “Dunk”, “Brother”, "Uncle", "Grand & God Daddy". Duncan has been an advocate, surrogate dad, couch, friend, and support system to so many for 40 plus years. We all know Duncan for his cheerfulness, love for family, friends, and the game of basketball. Duncan used his experience as a young boy that was raised by a single mother (who suddenly passed away when he was 12 years of age), as the driving force for his compassion to help and support his community through mentorship and coaching.

A few years ago, Duncan had fallen ill. Recently, his health has declined drastically. He has had multiple surgeries and unfortunately is underinsured. He is too ill to work and his wife cannot work; she is his sole caregiver. Therefore, they are dealing with tremendous financial hardship.

In Duncan’s words, "reaching out for help is the hardest thing I'm having to overcome. Being the person to rescue others, I never thought I'd be in this position."

It has been extremely hard for them to keep up with all of the weekly medical expenses. He is under the care of numerous doctors: Dialysis 3 times a week, an Endocrinologist, a Cardiologist, a Pulmonologist, an Ophthalmologist, a Gastroenterologist, and a Wound Care doctor. He has been hospitalized several times because of the fluid in his lungs, 3 fingers amputated and other limbs are deteriorating due to gangrene. He's blind in one eye with cataracts in the other.

Recently, he coded (flat-lined). The resuscitation process destroyed his pacemaker which landed him in ICU and heart surgery 2 weeks later. Prior to this, he suffered from C. Diff. Colitis. The Dificid medication cost over $1000.00.

They can no longer afford his medical co-pays, medication & travel expenses. Their household bills are behind, so we're seeking a blessing. We pray this fund will assist them so he may remain stress-free and focus on his medical needs. Thank you all so much in advance. We're so grateful to you all for supporting Duncan.
