Short Summary -

Hey there! My name is Lucas Sherron, I am a third-year Film Production major in the School of Film and Animation at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Right now, I am creating my Fiction Workshop film titled “A Pound of Flesh.”

“A Pound of Flesh” is an absurdist comedy about a broke father who is desperately trying to sell his kidney on the black market to pay for his daughter’s medical bills. The story takes our main character on a wild adventure through one crazy night venturing into the criminal underworld.

This film is largely inspired by my father, James Sherron. Like the main character, my Dad is constantly coming up with these creative ways of going about things or these outside-of-the-box solutions to solving problems, and selling his kidney for his family’s sake feels like something my Dad would actually do. I love my Dad beyond words, and I wanted to make a film dedicated to him, one that truly shows how far a father is willing to go and how much he is willing to put himself through just to protect and provide for his child, even when it feels like the entire world is bearing down on him.

Additionally, I’ve drawn inspiration from the class consciousness that has been stirred up by various recent events in our country. People now more than ever are beginning to realize how much wealth and class disparity there truly is in both our country and the world between the elite and those below them.

Now obviously, that’s a serious topic, so I wanted to tackle it from more of an absurd comedic angle to lighten the heaviness of it all. The absurdity of the situation, in my head, highlights and heightens the reality of the disparity. Tonally, we are pulling from media pieces such as I Think You Should Leave, Sorry to Bother You, Parasite, and Better Call Saul. Overall, I am hoping that the film can instill some hope into its audience and act as a call for solidarity.

What We Need -

Our amazing team has been hard at work over this past month doing pre-production, and all the pieces are in place to begin filming in March. All we need is YOUR SUPPORT! Please consider donating to help us afford props (such as several fake kidneys), costumes, gear rentals, locations costs, food for our cast and crew, and film festival fees - all vital aspects of making this film the best it can be!

This film is happening, and we’d love for you to be a part of it. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, and your support helps us bring this vision to life in the best way possible – don’t miss the chance to be part of something special!

As a way of showing our appreciation, we'll be sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes updates and special thank-you's with our supporters.

If you can’t donate, no worries at all! Just sharing this campaign with one or two other people can be an amazing way to help us make this film a reality!

Please consider donating to help us tell this hilarious, timely, and important story in the most amazing way possible!
