Help Bill Keep His Inherited Home

Don protégé
Hi, I’m Bill from Anchorage, Alaska. This campaign is very humbling for me, but it was suggested by several of my friends. I cannot wait any longer. Here’s the bottom line:  I need $2,032 by January 30, 2016 or the city will foreclose on my house and land that I inherited 10 years ago when my father died.

After cleaning up my life 3 decades ago and attempting a small business, I lost almost all of my retirement investment monies in the Great Recession of 2008-2009. So I decided to return to college after 36 years to finally get my Bachelor’s Degree in the spring of 2010 with the hopes of eventually getting more secure employment. I was going year-around part-time (2-3 classes per semester), with some part-time and some contract full-time work, until I suffered a massive (my cardiologist’s adjective) heart attack in November 2011. The emergency room doctors implanted two stents in my former blocked artery, and later noticed that a blood clot had already formed. After 90 days on Coumadin, the clot dissolved, but I was left with an enlarged heart, very low blood pressure, and no energy (compared to what I had before the heart attack). I did not work for about a year while recuperating, but maintained my classes, even achieving a couple of small scholarships. I really can’t work full-time in most of my former jobs now so I just work part-time. It’s also harder to find good paying work that is not too physically demanding at my age. I resorted to renting out a room or two from my house, but it’s not enough with the rising property taxes and utilities costs and the effects from inflation. I do NOT get Social Security Disability or Social Security Retirement. I turn 63 in March.

I’ve had to borrow to pay on my past property taxes, but that option is almost over. Even though I’m a Christian, I did not “truly” learn about Proverbs 22:7 until after I resumed my college classes. I hope to graduate after this coming summer semester, so I need my home until then, at least. With my health, this crazy economy, and my age, now my future is in doubt. I realize that it was the Good Lord (Praise God!) that allowed me to survive a massive heart attack since most people who have experienced such do not survive. People survive mild heart attacks, instead. God probably has some more work for me to do before my time is done.  This is where I am now.

To add to this problem, on Monday Jan. 18th, my 20-year old car died on me. From my roommate’s $500 for rent money for February, $319 was spent to diagnose and  install a used alternator.

This is my first time using GOFUNDME, so it appears that there will be a processing fee by the two companies involved for every contribution. Those fees are 8% of the donation plus 30 cents per donation. That comes to $2,194.56 or rounded up to $2,200.00 for my goal.

I would sincerely appreciate your prayers and anything you can provide. In return, I can pray for you for your concerns as well. Thank you for your time, understanding, and cooperation. May God Bless You! Psalm 46:1 -- “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
