Al & Caroline Medical Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On September 24th, my friend Al Tucker received a directive from his physician to take 30 days off from work to get some much-needed rest. Instead of 30 days of rest and relaxation,
Al is now going into his 3rd month of physical rehabilitation from injuries sustained in an auto accident and coping with the unexpected financial burden of over $110,000 in medical bills and other costs resulting from the accident.

Al and Caroline have returned home, with Caroline back at work and Al is undergoing physical rehabilitation.

However, Al feels blessed to be alive, and is grateful for the support of family, friends and colleagues during this time and maintains his trademark positive and upbeat persona. He is recovering and undergoing physical rehabilitation determined to get "back on his feet" and "back to work". In case you do not know Al, he is the Vice-President of Multicultural Tourism, Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In his role, Al has been highly effective in growing revenue for Broward County from multicultural tourism, conferences and conventions. He has cultivated key relationships and has been praised for providing equitable support to multicultural organizations nationally and locally. Dr. Germaine Baugh, CEO, Urban League of Broward credits Al's vision and commitment as a major factor in landing the highly impactful and successful National Urban League Conference held in Ft. Lauderdale this past summer.

Prior to the doctor ordering Al to take off work for 30 days of rest, he and his wife Caroline had planned a dream trip to South Africa. Given his doctor's orders, having a trip to South Africa already scheduled seemed to be perfect timing. I and other community leaders were dismayed to learn from Germaine that Al and Caroline were in a South African hospital following the auto accident and because of their injuries, they required special travel arrangements to bring them back to the U.S.

I am writing as Al and Caroline's friend and because of the hard work Al and Caroline have put into serving our community. I hope that you will find it in your heart and ability to assist Al and Caroline reduce their medical bills as they continue on the road to recovery. While their health insurance will cover the majority of their direct medical costs, I am sure you can appreciate they have significant out-of-pocket expenses and deductibles to cover.

A silver lining is that Caroline's injuries were not as severe as Al's injuries and she is back at work. However, Al has significant physical rehabilitation ahead of him and his date to return to work is still in question.  As Al and Caroline's accident demonstrates, we never know what bumps await us along life's journey.  Please join me in being: "... our brother's keeper".

Any support is much appreciated. All the funds less the Go Fund Me fees, go directly to Al and Caroline.

Please share this campaign via email and post on your social media accounts as you choose.  The impact of many individuals making modest contributions can be impactful.

The fund raising goal is $15,000.  300 contributions of $50 each will reach the goal.  In less than 10 minutes you can make a contribution and share the campaign socially to expand our reach.

Thank you for your consideration and please keep Al and Caroline in your prayers.

Best wishes to you and your family for a joyous holiday and for peace, good health and prosperity in the new year.

Appreciatively,
