My dad, Johan, found out in early September he has stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. This was caught by accident on an ER visit when he got an x- ray. He’d been feeling ill for a few months and his back problems had flared up.
I am saddened to tell you, my dad’s cancer journey has taken a turn for the worse
Since September he has endured multiple chemo treatments, tests and scans. For a time it appeared to be managed, however in the last months there have been major set backs with multiple hospital and ER visits trying to manage the pain. The recent tests show the cancer cannot be held back any longer.
This has been a difficult journey, he is currently hospitalized and at this time has chosen to stop treatment and begin palliative care.
Unfortunately with Covid restrictions and the condition he is in, he cannot travel to Sweden and family from Sweden cannot come help AJ care for him at home.
Given the circumstances the best option is a Hospice facility setting.
They will help my dad mange the pain and be as comfortable as possible until his time here is complete.
His current insurance will not fully cover the cost of the Hospice facility and there are additional medical bills over these last months
Any and all financial help would allow Johan and his wife, AJ, to spend this remaining time without the worry and burden of these mounting expenses.
With gratitude to each and every one of you for your love and support!
