David's Kidney Transplant Fund

Hello, my name is David adeeb, and I'm reaching out to you from Canada. I was born in 1994 in Iraq, and I’ve been on a challenging journey with my health since I was eleven years old. During my annual medical checkups, doctors discovered a congenital cyst in my kidney. They informed me that I would eventually need a kidney transplant by the age of 40 or 45, but at the time, I felt perfectly healthy. This condition runs in my family; my father had the same issue and ultimately needed dialysis.

I have a heartbreaking memory of my father's last dialysis session. The machine malfunctioned, and the nurses didn't respond quickly enough, which led to a devastating delay in returning blood to his body. Tragically, this resulted in his heart stopping, and he passed away due to this medical error while we were in Iraq.

After relocating to Canada in 2019, I began seeing a kidney specialist who advised me to follow a strict diet and have regular checkups. However, after one of these checkups, I received an urgent call from a nurse asking me to schedule an appointment. When I met with the doctor, he delivered the devastating news that my kidney was failing and that I needed to start dialysis. I began this difficult journey in March 2024, and on December 2nd, 2024, I underwent surgery to remove my kidney.

Since then, I have been dependent on dialysis three to four times a week. The wait for a kidney transplant can be long, and I often feel trapped between home and the hospital, far from my normal life, my job, and my friends.

I’ve explored various options for a kidney transplant, but the costs are overwhelming. The total expense is approximately $120,000 CAD. I have managed to raise $20,000 CAD by selling my car and through family support, but I still need to raise an additional $100,000 CAD. I am humbly asking for your help to make this possible. I want nothing more than to return to my life, my work, and my friends.
