Hello Friends! Those of you who know Melyssa, know that her recent diagnosis of MS has literally & figuratively knocked her on her ass. Those who don’t know Melyssa personally- let me introduce you: Melyssa Lentini is one of the hardest working single moms I know. She is a talented artist, she’s super smart, kind, thoughtful, and filled with humility. Her quick wit & gift of hilarity constantly brings those around her to full-on belly laughter. She’s the first to step forward and offer her help if someone is in need. She’s quite simply, a totally rad woman who has fallen down quite a bit lately and could use our help to lift her up. Since her diagnosis 6 months ago, Melyssa has been hospitalized, had countless doctor appointments, seen many specialists, undergone physical therapy, & speech therapy. The list goes on, and there’s no end in sight. Melyssa has learned the type of MS she has is Primary Progressive, which is the more rare form that only affects 15-20% of people diagnosed with MS…. which means she will fight this thing for the rest of her life. She won’t experience breaks in between flare ups, but instead, will have to learn to manage her pain, and a multitude of symptoms and side effects every day. Multiple Sclerosis is a lifelong disease that Melyssa will learn how to live with, but she still has swelling in her brain among other symptoms, and pain-- too much pain, and her doctors have no idea if and when she will be able to go back to work. Melyssa has always worked so hard to provide a good life for her daughter, Sabrina, but not being able to earn a paycheck right now is a scary thing as the ongoing, extensive medical bills keep coming in. MS has not only kept her from working, but the seizures prevent her from driving, and sadly, she’s not even able to do the thing that brings her great peace- make art. So, let us rally around Melyssa, and help her to acclimate to her new normal without having to be filled with worry & stress about mounting bills….so that she can focus on her health and keeping a sense of normalcy for her daughter. No amount is too small. Every little bit will help. I know most of us want to help….sometimes we just need to know how...this is a great opportunity to help an amazing woman & hard working mama!
