Sandra Gangemi Healing Path

We are fundraising for our sister Sandra. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in mid- 2017.  Underwent surgery and chemo and did well for a bit longer than a year. As she was recovering for chemo and learning how to appreciate life again, this year she started feeling pain in the tumor site. We didn't want to panic right away but our fears were confirmed this April and Sandra, my beautiful, brave sister, whom some of you know, learned that she has a recurrence of the cancer in her peritoneum.

I have to mention that my family is a Braca2 carrier. Braca2 is the gene that makes us vulnerable to breast and ovarian cancer. I myself am a survivor of breast cancer. In 2017 we lost our youngest sister Romina to cervical cancer as Sandra was fighting her ovarian cancer.

Chemo was really hard for Sandra during her first cancer treatment as her body reacted badly to all and each drug she received, but she looked ahead and battled through. Sandra lives in our hometown in Argentina and the suggested surgery and treatments are not covered by her insurance. She is hoping to have a costly surgery this month and followed it up with an advance immunotherapy treatment.

Sandra is the mother of two kids: Eva, 19 and Max, 15. She is also caring for our 15-year-old niece Calixta who is the daughter of my deceased sister Romina.  As you can see she is a very generous and brave woman and I ask for your support to help her be as healthy as she can be.

Whatever small or large sum you can contribute will be greatly appreciated by our family
