St. Peter Festival Tragedy in Apalit Pampangga Philippines
Hi My Name is Gladys Torres, i am deeply saddened to write these words, but we had lost 3 of our dear friends and 8 family members severely burned from this tragic event including my mom.
My family and friends has been devoted to St. Peter for 36 years and this festival is held in Apalit Pampangga Philippines. Every summer everyone looks forward to this event. This year around 2,000 boats showed up to the event. Rain or shine, people would support and travel from all over the country. This is the first year that any thing horrible happened to our boat, and sadly people lost their lives and got serious injuries. This day was supposed to be a day for celebration.
Our families boat had done four laps or so in the river like the other boats around them. Just the same route over and over again waiting for St. Peter’s boat. There was some electrical wires across the river along the way, and our boats flag got caught and this caused the boat to explode and electrocution, resulting in the deaths of 3 people and burn injuries for some.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help my family & friends during this time. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, and we ask for prayers that we may find peace concerning this tragedy. On the behalf of my mom (Cristina Javier) and other victims from this tragedy, We would appreciate monetary donations to help pay for funeral expenses for those who had passed and also help for medical bills for those who had survived. If you are in the Philippines and near that area, and can donate any supplies for the aftercare for their burns once they get released from the hospital will also be greatly appreciated.
Rest In Peace to our angels

From the bottom of our hearts,
Thank you so much.
