Nyla came into this world fighting for her life. At eighteen weeks gestation; my daughter Clevoria went into pre-term labor. Clevoria spent ten weeks in the hospital and was given medication to stop the contractions. Nyla was born at twenty-eight weeks gestation (full term is 39-40 weeks). Nyla weighed 1lb. and 15 oz. Nyla spent two months in Lucille Packard's Children Hospital neonatal ward. Clevoria was given the best mothers day gift of all and that was bringing Nyla home on Mothers Day. Clevoria spent the first five years of Nyla's life making sure she had every resource available for extreme "preemies." It was a long challenging journey. With love, faith and prayer a true miracle was realized.
Nyla is once again in a position of challenge. Nyla's mother, my beloved first born passed away unexpectedly on December 16, 2018. Nyla has lost her mother, her cheerleader and her guide. We want to make sure every hope and dream Clevoria had for Nyla will come to fruition.
Please help us "nurture" Nyla as she was during her twenty-eight weeks of gestation and every year thereafter.
As a single mother, Clevoria worked effortlessly to provide the absolute best for her child. Nyla attends a distinguished private school where she excels in the arts. With Clevoria now gone, Nyla's educational and basic human needs must continue to be met.
Nyla has high hopes of College and one day pursuing a career in Photo Journalism. Her family wants to continue the pursuit of those dreams by providing the absolute BEST in heath care, education and options for her. My daughter truly lived for her child, as I do mine. And as the living grandparent with limited means of my own I'm asking you all to reach into your hearts and help us provide the nourishment that is essential for Nyla.
My daughter was an amazing woman that carried so much love for Nyla and so many others in her life. Even as a busy single mother working as hard as she did, she also found time to give back to members of the community as a lead volunteer with Bread of Life, EPA. Because of Clevoria's many early mornings as a volunteer, hundreds of low income families were able to eat everyday. This was an amazing example Nyla was able to see and contributed to the caring and loving young woman she is becoming. The family will continue to be a positive influence to her and with your help we can carry her through.
On December 16, 2018, my birthday "I birthed an Angel" who will truly watch over Nyla.
