Over the past several years I have grown my medical bill debt to over Sixty Thousand Dollars. ($60,000). Three surguries and a 6 week stint in the hospital recovering from double pneumonia made my ability to generate a steady paycheck difficult for over 2 years as I recovered, more slowly than anticipated. These expenses have crippled any chance for Patty and I to get ahead or even keep pace with our bills. Couple that with with college loans and a Paternal parent unwilling to support properly is a perfect storm of financial shortcomings. I would have never in my life imagined taking this path for help, but I have absolutely run out of options.
I feel like my description of the medical bills was lacking in some details that I felt were difficult to elaborate on, until now.
In March of 2012 I went to the hospital for emergency surgery to have my gall bladder removed. I was working and covered by my insurance for the issue. I turned in my notice and ironically enough on April 3rd was readmitted to the hospital as one of the gall stones had lodged in my bile duct and caused my liver to get infected. I was turning yellow and becoming sick with advanced jaundace. I had a second emegency surgery in just under a month. Except this time my insurance declared it was a separate issue and refused to pay for the 2nd surgery on the same issue. For years the correspondences have gone back and forth and the final decree by the insurance company was complete rejection of the coverage. The physical damage I recovered from, finally. Its the fact that had I been admitted just 3 days earlier my insurance would have still been active.
Your generosity allows me to pay down a significant portion of the past due bill and perhaps get me to a point where I can make a bargain for pennies on the dollar for repayment. One sixth of the total is better for them than none and that is why I took this path and swallowed a ton of pride and asked for your help. I truly appreciate any and all help even if its just passing this along. Thank you very much.
