Love for Lacey

On Monday November 4th Lacey Chesser suffered a horrible accident that has forever changed her life.  As you’ll see by the details below, Lacey is a fighter and we have faith that she WILL live to fight another day but for now we need your prayers and support to get her through this most challenging fight yet – the fight for her life ☹  Lacey hit a tree head on and nearly died in this horrible accident on Coulbourne Mill Road in Salisbury.  Had it not been for a group of lawn care workers in a neighbors yard, she might not be here today as her truck burst into flames upon impact with the tree.  The workers were her Hero’s that day – filling buckets of water and dousing the flames until EMS workers could get Lacey out of the crumpled remains of her truck.  Once removed from the terrible wreckage, Lacey had lost so much blood that she had to have transfusions immediately just to save her life and keep her here with us! Without hesitation Lacey was flown to Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore.

Lacey is still in intensive care and has undergone six surgeries to date with more to come.  During the accident she broke both legs and shattered her foot.  She now has a metal plate in her hip and metal rods in her legs.  They even had to remove a muscle from her back in an attempt to reconstruct her terribly damaged leg.  Unfortunately, the doctors doing everything they possibly could to reconstruct her mangled foot, were unable to save it and she had to undergo surgery just this week to remove her left leg from below the knee.  Right now Lacey is facing the biggest battle yet with an infection in her leg.  She needs to fight off the infection so they can do skin grafting and close her wound.  The healing process cannot start until this infection is under control.  Worst of all, Lacey’s pain has been unbearable despite the physicians many attempts to control it.

Please pray!!  Pray that the antibiotics start to work and that the infection goes away so the doctors can begin to get Lacey to a place where she can heal…..  Please pray that the pain lets up so Lacey can get some rest and begin the healing process…..  Please pray for us, her friends and family as we go through this journey by her side and help her find her new normal….

We’re asking for your help……this could be your sister, daughter, girlfriend or wife…..

First we’re hoping you can help find Lacey’s Hero’s from that day – the men who carried buckets of water to keep the fire back.  We haven’t been able to figure out who they were and we’d love to offer our sincere thanks for being the Hero’s they were that day!!

We’d also like to ask that each of you pray and if you can, donate something……anything you can to help Lacey through this next phase.  The costs are beyond high both emotionally and financially.  No one expects or plans for something like this to happen.  Lacey is the sweetest, kindest girl you’ll ever meet and she’s our sister, our daughter, our best friend….  First and foremost, please take a moment and say a prayer.  Donate if you can but pray no matter what.  Truly every penny helps and we can’t thank you enough for your prayers and support thus far.  It’s just become clear that this is more than we can bear alone.  Lacey has a long journey in front of her and she/we will need all the support we can get.  The family has set up an account under “Love for Lacey” at BB&T bank so please donate here or send donations to __________________________c/o Love for Lacey.

Thank you so much for your support!  We will update as often as we can…..

Forever thankful,

 The Chesser Family
