NYCCDC BYTES Coding Program
Friends,
I’d like to invite you to make a financial contribution to an exciting new coding program that I’ve develop in partnership with the New York Covenant Community Development Corporation (NYCCDC) which is a certified 501 c3 non-profit organization and that I am looking forward to participating in this fall. The program is called the BYTES Coding Program and we’re looking to raise $10,000 to help pay for laptops as well as instructors for our coding students.
BYTES stands for Bold Young Technology and Engineering Students. The purpose of the program is to expose, inspire as well as introduce underserved and /or economically disenfranchised
middle school students of color to computer science and the future opportunities that it offers.
As an IT professional with over 20 years of experience I know how much a career in IT has personally benefited me as well as many of my peers and I would like to share my time, knowledge and experience with the future youth of our community so they too can reap even greater benefits.
The BYTES Coding program will start this fall Oct 2018 and will provide 4 hours of coding instruction per week for a 12 week session in the fall as well as an additional 12 week session in the spring. During that time 6th to 8th grade students will learn the basics of coding working with programming languages such as Block. We look to provide this free afterschool program to the youth in the Southern Westchester and the Bronx. We would look to add more programing languages like JavaScript and /or Python in the future.
Please make a donation that will help transform lives and shape the future of the youth within our community today. Keep in mind that all donations are tax deductible as the New York Covenant Community Development Corporation (NYCCDC) is a certified 501 c3 non-profit organization.
