Since leaving college back in February, I have been given an amazing opportunity to study a short filmmaking course at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in New York City next Year (June 2021). The course is a 4 week filmmaking course, however it may lead to a longer course in the U.S. with an undergraduate course.
With tuition costing up to £3,400 and other essentials (Visa, Travel, Housing, etc) around £2500, it seems that I have hit a hurdle with the financial side of things.
Obviously, with a year to go. I have already deposited a good sum towards my goal, but this is where you can help!
I am asking any one of my friends and family to help me out with my goal of £1000. This is truly a chance of a lifetime, and would benefit me within a career of filmmaking, as many of you know that this is the career path I want to follow. Although, have had already pursued many opportunities already, such as Directing a short film at Pinewood Studios with the BFI: Film Academy back in 2019, I yearn to take my studies abroad to the states.
Therefore, I would appreciate if any friends or family supported my opportunity to go to New York by funding my goal. Even if it was a simple £5, It would be 1 more step closer to helping me with my future in filmmaking.
UPDATE:
After a long discussion with NYFA, we have come to an agreement to postpone my course to 2022 instead of this year. This decision has come after talks about the different stages the virus and boarder laws imposed in both countries. Also as I was placed on furlough at the start of the 1st Lockdown, and then ultimately not earning anything by the 2nd to 3rd lockdown, I do not believe I am financially ready to embark on this educational trip.
Nevertheless, thank you all for the donations so far, and am still hoping I can reach my target.
This is not me saying that I am giving up, or simply not going. I am still enlisted to the course, the only thing that has changed is the date set back by a year.
