Helping Heroes of NYC during COVID-19 Epidemic
Donation protected
Friends,
As you may know, New York City is currently the epicenter of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United States. Many hospitals in NYC are experiencing a significant shortage of staff, beds, ventilators, and PPE (personal protective equipment). We are looking to raise money to help those on the front lines. The raised funds will help us pay for the following (including, but not limited to):
- protective equipment (N95 masks, gowns, gloves, powered respirators, etc)
- cleaning supplies (disinfectant sprays, hand sanitizers, soap, etc)
- meals for health care workers, first responders, hospital cleaning crews, etc.
- transportation costs, to enable essential staff get to work easier
- anything else that's helpful for keeping our healthcare providers and other workers safe as they bravely risk their health and lives by serving our community.
Please consider donating as much as you feel comfortable. The situation is urgent and every dollar goes a long way. Thank you!
About us: My name is Dr. Alexander Golant. I am an orthopedic surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, in Flushing, NY. I specialize in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery; currently I'm volunteering in my hospital ICU, helping take care of the COVID-positive patients. My colleagues and I created this GoFundMe campaign to help support those directly on the front-lines - nurses, anesthesiologists, critical care specialists, PAs, and others directly involved in delivering care to the population affected by this epidemic. The raised funds will be used to reimburse the front line workers for costs they have incurred for buying personal protective equipment, supplies, meals, and others necessary purchases, while serving on the front lines.
