NYC Marathon for Prion Alliance
Steuerlich absetzbar
This year I will be running the New York City Marathon and raising money to benefit Prion Alliance, and I'd greatly appreciate your support!
As many of you know, this past summer we lost my father-in-law, David Arditi, to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. CJD is an incredibly rare and invariably fatal neurodegenerative prion disease. While we lost David far too soon, there is still hope for others who carry the genetic mutation that causes CJD. That hope depends on important research being done by a handful of researchers around the world, including Sonia Vallabh and Eric Minikel at Prion Alliance.
Prion Alliance is a 501(c)(3) devoted exclusively to advancing scientific research towards a treatment or cure for human prion disease. Prion Alliance was founded by Sonia and Eric after they learned that Sonia inherited a genetic mutation that causes a prion disease called fatal familial insomnia. Soon after receiving this heartbreaking diagnosis, they both entirely changed careers, earned PhDs at Harvard Medical School, and went on to established a prion lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. It's an incredible and impressive story that is deeply inspiring and has been shared by WIRED, The New York Times, and Scientific American, among many other publications.
Every dollar raised goes directly towards finding a cure for this devastating disease. Thank you for your support and I hope to see many of you along the course on race day!
