NYC Hurricaine Ida relief for the Bernabe Family

Little Manila Queens Bayanihan Arts, NAFCON-NE, Migrante, Steven Raga and individuals are fundraising for Berniece Abquilan Bernabe and Jared Bernabe.
Berniece is giving birth in the next 2 weeks, but because of the remnants of Hurricane Ida and the flashfloods evening of September 1 in NYC, it destroyed all their belongings as well as there baby furniture and supplies. Please consider supporting Berniece and Jared either through donation or in kind support with baby supplies.
Berniece Bernabe is in the homestretch of her pregnancy – 35 weeks — when on Thursday September 1 the storm from the remnants from Hurricane Ida lashed the Northeast and flooded her basement apartment on Grand Avenue in Queens.
“We’re just waiting for the baby then this happened. It was bad,” she said “Everything was floating including our couch and our refrigerator.”
Berniece thought she has cried all she could seeing flood waters rising through their basement and swallowing almost everything they owned. Until she came back the following day.
“Next day po na bumalik po kami, I thought po di po ako iiyak. Pero po nung pagbukas ko po ng drawer po ng baby ko hindi po kinaya ng puso ko na umiyak kasi po pinipiga ko yung damit ng anak ko na amoy lumot…Kaya po kahit madumi sa bahay pinilit ko po makuha para po malabhan ko lang lahat ng damit niya.”
“We'll be back next day, I thought I wouldn't cry. But when I opened my baby's drawer, my heart couldn't bear to cry because I was squeezing my child's clothes that smelled of moss… So even though the house was dirty, I tried to get it so I could just wash everything her clothes. ”
