NYC Black Doula Fund
Donation protected
Hi, we are four maternal-health providers, advocates, activists and dear friends & colleagues working to create equity, safety and justice in the birthing world.
The NYC Black Doula Fund was started by:
Yael Offer (Midwife & Birth-Justice activist)
Allison Evans (Doula & Community Engagement expert)
Ithamar Turenne (Nurse & Women's Health expert)
Saonjie Hamilton (Midwife & Maternal-Health activist)
The goal of this fund is to raise money to allocate directly to Black birthing people who need access to Doula services.
The NYC Black Doula Fund pays in full for Doula services for Black pregnant people in NYC who cannot afford to hire a doula. Black women in NYC, and across the nation, are at an increased risk of poor outcomes and death compared to white women, an outcome of systemic racism in the medical world. In NYC, Black women are x12 more likely to face death during childbirth.

We also know that access to continuous support during birth increases not only satisfaction, but outcomes. Help us create equity, better maternal-health outcomes and access by contributing your dollars that will go directly to the birthing person and their doula of choice.
Our goal is to expand across all states. We truly believe, and see in our every day work, how doulas, as well as midwives, social workers, community-outreach and those supporting families and pregnant people, are an integral part of addressing the maternal-health crisis affecting our country, and specifically Black women and women of color.
