December 9th I came home and discovered my sweet baby angel of a dog, Ethel, lethargic to the point she would not even get up for kisses or a treat. I rushed her to the emergency vet, and within 20 minutes they told me they had located a very large tumor on her spleen. It had burst and she was bleeding into her abdomen. Her blood pressure was dangerously low, she needed an immediate blood transfusion and she also needed to have her spleen removed. The total cost of the procedure would be between $12,848.87 and $15,892.35. I emptied my savings, took out a loan, and Dan and I decided which credit cards to put the rest on. If the tumor does end up being malignant, there will be chemotherapy costs not included in this bill as well.
Ethel is my best friend. We adopted her from the Last Call (talk about a sign from the bar gods that this was supposed to be my dog)Foundation. I saw her from across the parking lot in front of Petco and IMMEDIATELY knew she was my soul dog. I can’t imagine my life without her and her precious eyes and pillow lips. I HATE asking for help, but I would do anything for her. Anything helps and please feel free to share and thank all of you for being here in my darkest days
