Puppy Rescue

Last Monday, we adopted Banjo (the grey pup) from a really horrible living situation down near Fresno. When we brought him home we found that he had 24 ticks on him and a very serious case of worms. We didn’t feel comfortable leaving the rest of his litter (3 boys and 1 girl pup) in Fresno so we went and adopted them and called the ASPCA after to alert them of the abusive living situation they were in and make sure the adult dogs that were still there were saved. In the past few days, we bathed, de-ticked and snuggled with Banjo’s brothers and sisters. It seemed they were doing a lot better and were eating and drinking well. They were a bit shy, but we figured that was due to the neglect they experienced. Yesterday, 3 wonderful families adopted 2 of Banjo’s brothers and his sister and we decided to hold onto one of Banjo’s brothers who he was very attached to (the red pup pictured above with Banjo). We named him Ryder. Today, one of the families who adopted one of the pups let us know that their pup was throwing up worms so they brought him to the vet and he, unfortunately, tested positive for Parvo. We immediately rushed our two pups to the pet hospital and they were tested for Parvo. Both of their tests came back positive.

Parvo is a highly contagious virus. It causes an infectious gastrointestinal (GI) illness in puppies and young dogs, and without treatment, it is often deadly.

We are hoping for financial support for the treatment of our pups, as well as the other pup that tested positive for Parvo. The other two families have been alerted of the positive Parvo results and are having them checked asap. The lowest end estimated price for Banjo and Ryder’s treatment is at the lowest for each of them $3,499 and their brother who has been named Rio has an estimate of $2,400 for treatment. Today, we had to put down a 75% deposit for the highest-end estimate for Banjo and Ryder's treatment which cost $7,500. Their survival is not guaranteed with treatment but we are hoping for the best for all of the puppies. Any donations will be distributed amongst the families of the puppies that have been tested positive for Parvo. For now, that is just Banjo, Ryder, and Rio but if any of the other pups test positive their owners will be included in the distribution! ANYTHING helps. We appreciate any support, prayers... anything.

We will continue to post updates about the puppies health and feel free to reach out to me for any additional info!
