Help Ny become his own boss

We're raising money for our friend Ny, so that he can buy a commercial grade sewing machine.

Ny is from Laos, but he's living in Thailand because there are no jobs in his home country.  He lives in Bangkok trying to support himself and also make enough money to send support back to his parents in Laos.  Ny works in the garment industry where he makes prototypes of women's fashions that are then used as the model for mass production.   He's really good at it.  Really good.

Essentially Ny works in a sweatshop where he makes $300 USD a month.  That's working 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, and half days on saturdays, plus commuting time.  As you can imagine workers in the garment industry are often at risk of being taken advantage of by unscupulous employers, who exploit immigrant labor. Unfortunately, without some start-up capital, there's no way for people like Ny to break out and make a better life for themselves and their family. Ny had his own sewing machine at one time, but had to sell it several years ago to cover family medical bills.

The industry is comprised of independent contractors and subcontractors.  There is a high demand for individuals who can do what Ny does, and there is ample work that pays better and with better conditions than Ny's current situation.  Unfortunately Ny doesn't have the capital to buy a commercial grade sewing machine and the small amount of supplies necessary to become an independent contractor.

Here's an opportunity to really make a difference in an individual's life.  Small or large donations would go towards helping Ny become self sufficient, and no longer vulnerable to predatory employers.
