NY Presbyterian Hospital Relief Fund for COVID- 19

The Coronavirus Pandemic was taken lightly upon its first onset, with many people not understanding the toll it would take on the United States or the world. Proper precautions weren’t taken because the magnitude of this virus was not yet understood. People compared this virus to the flu and made it seem like a generic illness that would blow over. Many people, including the two of us, would never have imagined this disease could have the impact it has had to date. Unfortunately, the USA has now been ranked as the country with the most COVID-19 cases, with nearly 600,000 cases that continue to grow day by day.
As this global crisis started growing, we started seeing our personal lives see the drastic effects of changing economic and public health policies, from colleges being shut down to seeing our family, friends, and elders in our community getting affected by this virus. After seeing the impact this virus has had on the health of the ones closest to us, our eyes were opened and the magnitude of this disease became more than just a statistic or percentage.
The virus has now become a global pandemic and has caused the government to shut down everything from public schools, colleges, restaurants, and many other small businesses. On top of this, as the cases grow and the virus spreads, New York is one of the many states that are being hit the hardest, with a current at least 195,031 total positive cases of COVID-19, 18,825 people currently hospitalized and 10,056 related deaths. This officially makes New York the state with the most Coronavirus cases.
Many people are reporting that New York is being broken down with the number of cases and the hospitals are running out of medical supplies that they are in dire need of. NY Presbyterian Hospital is one of the main hospitals with an overload of cases and they need our help. These donations will be going straight to the hospital to help them obtain medical supplies that are running dangerously low in hopes to help the doctors and other medical officials help those affected by this crisis.
These donations are needed to help our front line workers that risk their lives every single day in order to give patients that have been impacted by this disease the best medical care possible. Whether we know it or not, someone we know can and may be potentially affected by this disease, and supporting this cause to ensure the safety of our healthcare workers is a step forward we as a community need to take to fight the curve and beat this pandemic!
