Cake was seen 2 years ago by a specialist who said “nothing’s wrong”, and then essentially stopped responding and stopped trying to help find answers to what was happening with Cake after spending over $4,000.

since then, I have financially not been able to take Cake back to the vet to have her further treated; through the pandemic I lost my job, and it took awhile to find a new one & since then, her breathing problems have gotten worse.

I recently had to take cake to the vet because she stopped eating completely, it turns out that she has a bad tooth and gingivitis & the tooth needs to be pulled, however, the vet cannot proceed with doing that due to whatever is happening with cake’s lungs. X-rays and blood work have been taken; while cancer isn’t fully ruled out, it doesn’t seem to be the cause despite her white blood cell count being high. We are restarting her on a medication that seemed to help previously to see if it helps more, but if it doesn’t, she will have to go through a process of CT scans, fungal testing, amongst other things to see what’s actually going on and to see if there’s any cure for whatever is happening.

if you know me, you know this cat means everything to me; she has been with me and gotten me through everything imaginable, from a horrible break up, to my best friend dying, to both of my grandmothers dying in the same year, she’s helped me through all of it. She’s only 8 years old & I know to most it might seem like she’s “lived a long enough life”, but she deserves so much more time and so much more love and treats.

if I had even a fraction of all the money in the world, I’d spend it all to save her, but unfortunately I have bills and other things & can’t afford to save her all on my own.

I was told that a CT scan alone costs upwards of $5,000

so far this round I’ve already paid nearly $1,000 for one visit (just X-rays and bloodwork, and vet visit), and I’m expecting to spend at least $3,000 or more. I unfortunately was unable to get her insured, as she was born with FIV (which later went away according to the vet) and everything for her was considered “pre existing”.

I do not expect to reach the goal I’ve set or go beyond it if I end up needing more, but literally anything helps.

I know she’s “just a cat”, but I’d trade places with her if I could. I love this cat more than anything in the entire world & I hope by some miracle I get more time with her.
