Addison’s disease is an extremely rare autoimmune condition where the adrenal glands fail to produce enough cortisol — the body’s vital “stress hormone.” Without cortisol, the immune system and energy levels collapse. To put it simply, it’s like a Qantas jet trying to fly nonstop from Sydney to London with only enough fuel to make it to Brisbane.

This health crisis comes at an already difficult time. Martin has been unemployed for several months, actively searching for work in a tough job market. Now, with this unexpected hospital stay and a lengthy recovery period ahead, his ability to earn an income is further delayed. He is facing serious financial hardship and urgently needs help covering his basic living expenses.
