On Sat 27th April a huge fire broke out in our neighbouring building which lasted for a couple of hours causing severe fire damage too their building also ours to the point that our roof has been declared unsafe & a huge scaffolding has been erected to access & carry out emergency repairs. Subsequently due to the fire our shop has suffered severe water and smoke damage to the point where we have had to close our beloved shop and asses the next move.

Our Coffee machine has suffered severe water damage to the point of no repair also both of our grinders.. Walls, floors ceiling are all damaged along with our basement which has been flooded. Some things will hopefully be covered by Insurance but a lot are not, Including all of our stock (Coffee) which we hold a lot of and for those of you who visit us will know the quality of the coffee we use which comes at a premium price, also we have three members of staff which will have no work until we reopen which could be up to 6 weeks, all of ours bills will still have to be paid..

As our locals will be aware Steam Rüme has never been about making huge profits and squeezing pricing but instead will always be about the love of Coffee delivering some of the worlds finest Coffees along with in-house prepared food to the people of Southsea and surrounding areas.. We would never usually ask for support even during all of the lockdowns we never had one payout as didn't seem necessary but this is different it has hit us hard and we are in a very precarious situation which we believe with some support we can overcome.
