Adrianne vs. Leukemia
Donation protected
A week ago our sister, Adrianne Glavas, was diagnosed with leukemia (ALL and AML). Unfortunately this isn't her first medical battle. Born with a hole in her heart, she had open heart surgery when she was 1 1/2 years old. A few years later it was discovered she only had one functioning kidney with the other in stages of degeneration. Her bladder was the next disruption to her childhood, having several surgeries on this alone. As an adult, in kidney failure, she was put on dialysis with the hope of finding a suitable donor. Eleven years ago she successfully received a kidney transplant.
You would think that someone who has been in and out of hospitals all their life would run in the opposite direction of any buildings that started with the word 'medical'. But she must have had a calling. Adrianne studied to be a nurse and has worked most of her adult life in hospitals, giving of herself to care for patients.
Unfortunately, our sister Adrianne, is back in the hospital as a patient once again. To someone that has stared death in the face so many times we truly believe she is a fighter and if anyone can beat this awful disease it will be her. On Februray 10, 2016, she began the first phase of an aggressive chemo regimen. As a nurse, she will be unable to work for the duration of her treatment, estimated to be at least until August of this year. While she has private health insurance, she works for a nursing agency and does not receive benefits, such as short term disability, that would help her financially while she is unable to work. Adrianne is a very humble human being that has never steered from the challenges life has thrown her. We believe she will beat this and want her to give 100% to her treatment and her recovery. With this in mind, we graciously ask for your monetary support so she can devote her time and thoughts to her wellbeing and less on the financial obligations that continue despite being out of commission for an undefined period of time.
Any contribution you can make would be most appreciated. Thank you for supporting our sister!
