Ellie's Expenses
Donation protected
No parent wants to see their child struggle in life, especially not to survive. My name is Deora Inniss and I went into labor at 23 weeks pregnant. At 24 weeks, I gave birth to my daughter, Ellie, four months early. She was born 1 lb 10oz and fit in my husband's hand. She had a 25% chance of making it through emergency delivery and a 30% chance of survival. Ellie is a medical miracle and has survived two months despite all the odds.
For the last two months, Ellie has been in the NICU in critical care and critical condition. All Ellie has known are her parents, the medical professionals and the machines and monitors that keep her alive. She's had numerous procedures, blood transfusions, scans, labs, and tests completed. She's been at high risk of infection, brain bleeds, heart problems, and more. Ellie has been on a ventilator as life support for her first two months of life. She has only ever been fed through a feeding tube or IV nutrition. She has struggled with maintaining her heart rate, blood oxygen concentration, blood sugar, blood cell counts, body temperature, and is significantly behind in weight and growth. Further, Ellie is severely immunocompromised as we enter RSV, cold, and flu season creating the possibility of further setbacks.
My husband and I are asking for help because Ellie is estimated to have a 2.5 million dollar hospital stay. She will most likely be in the hospital until November or December, creating a five to six month NICU stay. The bills are already arriving and we are struggling to keep up. Even after insurance we will be drowning in medical expenses upon the completion of her NICU stay. My husband, Anthony works full time and commutes 3 hours round trip daily, but it's sadly not enough. I am currently being trained daily at the hospital on how to care for Ellie and her specific medical needs for her anticipated release to be her primary care giver. I am also seeking a part-time job to also help with expenses.
Anthony and I as Ellie's parents want to give her the best quality of life we can. We want our little girl to come home happy and healthy, but we need help. Any money we receive will go to Ellie's care, cost of the expenses taking care of her at the hospital, and additional costs, supplies, materials, further anticipated expenses, and other miscellaneous expenses. As well as the materials and equipment needed for her to be able to come home including medical and regular baby items, as well as general financial stability for our family. Anything helps us during this difficult transition. We appreciate all the donations, prayers and shares during this trying time. Thank you for your help.
